Heather Morschauser
Associate General Counsel at Michaels Stores Inc.
Heather Morschauser joined Michaels Stores, Inc. as Associate General Counsel in June 2008, supporting the merchandising, sourcing, and marketing departments. She focuses on legal issues related to product development and sales in the US and Canada, including intellectual property, regulatory requirements, and product safety. Heather regularly provides legal advice concerning privacy matters, social media, pricing claims, and record retention. She also spends her time drafting and negotiating contracts of all kinds.
Prior to joining Michaels, Heather was an Associate in the Corporate Securities Section with the law firm of Haynes and Boone, LLP from 2000 through 2005. Her first in-house job was with the Atrium Companies as Associate Counsel from 2005 through 2008.
Heather has volunteered with the Dallas Young Lawyers Association, and she is a Sustainer with the Junior League of Dallas after ten years as an Active Member. She is a Member of the Texas Bar Foundation, has been named as a Texas Rising Star, and was a 2012 finalist for D Magazine’s Outstanding Deputy General Counsel/Associate General Counsel – Midsize Legal Department.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys writing and is an alum of Southern Methodist University’s Writer’s Path New York Program. She hopes to finish her first novel any day now.
Heather earned her Juris Doctorate from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in 2000, and her Bachelor of Arts from Rice University in 1996.
