Anne Brooksher-Yen
Senior Associate General Counsel of Litigation, Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality for Celanese Corporation
As Senior Associate General Counsel of Litigation, Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality for Celanese Corporation, Anne Brooksher-Yen leads three main areas of responsibility within the large legal department of a prominent, DFW-based Fortune 500 manufacturing and chemicals company. Anne moved down south to Texas in 2016 after a decade of working in private practice at some of New York’s leading law firms, including DLA Piper, Winston & Strawn and Arnold & Porter. Today, overseeing the multi-billion-dollar company’s substantial litigation and environmental dockets, Anne’s day-to-day responsibilities include helping business partners navigate a variety of complex legal problems related to Celanese’s core business units, acetyls and engineered materials. She manages legal issues common to both chemicals and specialty products, helping to mitigate risk, navigate regulatory hurdles, avoid unnecessary legal battles, and resolve disputes favorably for the company.
Throughout her career, Anne has been a strong advocate for diversity. While in private practice, she participated in her firms’ Diversity committees, and she leveraged the resources of the firms to represent disadvantaged groups, especially those within the LGBTQ community. One career highlight was when Anne helped a dying veteran obtain an Honorable Discharge after he had been dishonorably discharged from the Marine Corps decades earlier for being gay. In her current role leading the litigation function, Anne has focused on increasing the representation of women and minorities in her outside counsel roster.
