Jenny Waiters

Jenny Walters is Senior Counsel in Akin Gump’s investment management practice and is a member of its knowledge management team. Ms. Walters’ practice involves securities trading and reporting advice and investment adviser compliance and registration, counseling fund managers on securities law and regulatory compliance, representing clients on registration and exemptive filings with the SEC and other regulators, as well as advising on ongoing compliance matters. A former litigator, Ms. Walters also advises clients on audits, regulatory and internal investigations, and securities arbitrations or class actions.
Ms. Walters also represents businesses involved in the EB-5 immigrant investor program to develop new projects that qualify for EB-5 investments, as well as counseling on domestic and foreign compliance issues.
Ms. Walters has also devoted her time to significant pro bono engagements and, in 2013, she was recognized by the firm as Firmwide Pro Bono Counsel of the Year. She was also recognized as a Super Lawyers Texas “Rising Star” in 2014 and 2016. In 2010, 2012 and 2014, Ms. Walters was named an “Outstanding Lawyer Under 40” by the Attorney Division of the Jewish Federation.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Walters served as judicial intern to the Honorable Paul Stickney of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Ms. Walters received her B.S. with honors in communication studies from the University of Texas. She received her J.D. cum laude in 2007 from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was an associate editor of the Washington University Law Review.
