Kim J. Askew, a partner at K&L Gates, is a nationally recognized trial lawyer, who represents clients in significant commercial litigation and employment law cases. She has successfully tried cases to jury verdicts throughout the country. Kim is a trailblazer in the law and a leader in her community.

She was one of the first minority lawyers to chair the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas, the ABA and State Bar of Texas Sections of Litigation, and the ABA Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary, where she continues to vet nominees to the federal courts.

She is the State Delegate for the State of Texas in the ABA and is a member of the Council of the American Law Institute. Kim has been consistently named to Law Dragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America,” “Best Lawyers” and “Super Lawyers,” and Benchmark has named her one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation.” For many years, Super Lawyers has named her to the “Top 100 Lawyers in Texas,” the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas,” and the “Top 100 Lawyers in the Dallas Fort Worth Area.”

She has received the Morris Harrell Professionalism Award, the Luther Soules III Professionalism Award, and the Professionalism Award for the Fifth Circuit. The Dallas Bar Association recently awarded her its inaugural Distinguished Service Award which it then named in her honor. The ABA has awarded her its Spirit of Excellence Award for promoting diversity in the legal profession. Kim serves on the boards of local and national civic, charitable and professional organizations.
